Eth-Farm is a nationally integrated digital platform modernizing Ethiopia’s warehouse receipt and agricultural financing system. It enables farmers, cooperative unions, and processors to securely store commodities, receive digital warehouse receipts, and independently request and manage loans online — without physically visiting a bank branch.
For the first time in Ethiopia’s financing history, borrowers fully control their loan journey through a secure digital dashboard. From initial request to final approval or rejection, all interactions occur transparently within the platform.
Borrowers submit required documents digitally, communicate directly with selected bank branches, receive feedback or rejection reasons, and re-submit corrected applications — eliminating paperwork, travel costs, and delays associated with traditional banking processes.
Eth-Farm is designed to serve Ethiopia’s full agricultural ecosystem. Depositors — including farmers, cooperative unions, and processors — may register themselves or be onboarded by certified warehouses, ensuring inclusive access regardless of digital literacy level.
Warehouse operators manage facilities, staff, and receipt issuance, while banks assess loan requests through dedicated dashboards. MOTRI maintains full regulatory oversight, ensuring compliance, transparency, and trust across all stakeholders.
The platform supports both financing and non-financing storage models. Depositors may choose to pledge stored commodities for loans or store products purely for safekeeping and inventory management.
Each warehouse receipt is digitally generated, clearly classified, legally traceable, and verifiable. Non-loan receipts are issued with explicit disclaimers, ensuring no misuse for financing purposes.
Eth-Farm is built for national-scale deployment with strong governance and security foundations. Integration with National ID, TIN, and e-trade systems ensures verified identities, business compliance, and fraud prevention.
Every action across the platform is recorded in an end-to-end digital audit trail. Role-based access control, real-time transaction monitoring, and regulatory dashboards allow MOTRI to supervise the system with full visibility and authority.
Eth-Farm establishes a new national standard for warehouse receipt financing in Ethiopia by shifting control to borrowers while preserving institutional trust. By digitally connecting warehouses, banks, operators, and regulators in one ecosystem, the platform reduces bureaucracy, expands access to finance, and strengthens confidence in agricultural markets.
The result is a scalable, transparent, and inclusive digital infrastructure that supports Ethiopia’s agricultural growth, financial modernization, and long-term economic resilience.
